How is YogaYAMA different?

Just like in many other kids’ yoga classes, our goal is to move and have fun. We also teach our young students yogic techniques for stabilizing emotions, gaining mental clarity, and maintaining a healthy body–skills to last a lifetime!

What truly sets YogaYAMA apart is that we weave yoga philosophy into the classes through storytelling.
The “yamas” and “niyamas” are ten foundational principles of yoga philosophy that support us in living with integrity. When our behaviors match our inner wisdom, we can feel truly good about ourselves. When we are grounded in self-love and inner stability, we naturally create healthy attachments.

Each class focuses on one principle of yoga philosophy (one of the ten yamas & niyamas). We learn about that principle through storytelling, yoga poses, meditation, breathwork, and class discussion.

According to popular wisdom and this decades-long study, when we near our final days and reflect on the whole of our lives, positive relationships are what we treasure most. The yamas and niyamas are essentially a guidebook for creating healthy, happy relationships. Yoga helps us practice being present so that we can appreciate all of our blessings every day.
